Oh hello, Tea Tuesday! The “I know it’s later in the day, but I promise I didn’t forget about you” edition. Today has been a whirlwind of everything that is happy and good in my life. Hikes with friends in the foothills after a delicious breakfast. Serendipitous meetings with like-minded loves, and setting up shop at the Denver Botanical Gardens with my dear friend Candice to work on plans and dreams. This evening is Cardamom, Orange, & Rose. The herbs in the blend match all of the colors in the sunset right now…which of course, no picture will do justice. Now I’m off to plan for New Moon Magic and other delights.
More about the herbs in this blend:
Orange Peel (Citrus sinensis) - Orange is traditionally used to flavor teas, wines, jelly and other culinary delights. In addition to vitamins C, A, and pectin, they also contain flavonoids, which are antioxidant compounds that support cellular health. They have also been shown to support heart health by encouraging normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Rose (Rosa spp.) - Rose energetically and physically supports the heart. It has a calming effect, soothes the liver, aids in regulating menstruation, and is an anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. Rose is helpful for general pain relief and has sedative properties. This beauty is a powerful but gentle herb. It’s delicious as an infused honey!! Add a pinch of rose into your creations to sprinkle love into it.
Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum): Cardamom is a traditional spice added to most chai recipes, but it also helps support digestion and is warming to the body.
Cardamom, Orange, & Rose Tea
1 part Organic Green Cardamom Pods (Slightly crushed. You can use the backside of a knife to do this)
1/2 Part Organic Orange Peel
1/4 Part Organic Rose Petals
Combine. Use 1 tablespoon of blend to 1 cup water. Even though these are mostly hard parts, I infused this to get a more delicate flavor as decocting the orange peel can make it too bitter and the cardamom overpowering.
